For the sake of a trend, I am shopping my stash!

I love the Kylie Jenner / Friends lip trend.  I really do, but I call it Kylie Jenner / Friends  trend instead the 90's lip trend because although it is a trend, it isn't THE 90's trend.

The brown lip trend predated Friends by 4 to 5 years, so by time Rachel graced our screen with the brown lip and her infamous haircut, the trend was old news.

The true lippie worn by bonafide make up wearing girls of the 90's was actually brown eyeliner.  We would outline and fill in our lips with brown eyeliner then top it of with a light pink or pearl gloss (my favorite was Mary Kay gloss in pearl).   And sometimes for kicks we would outline our lips in brown and fill it in with the gloss. I do realize that I am being a little nit picky, but I thought you should know the facts...And the fact was we thought we were pretty dag gone awesome back then and we deserve our "props"...(Whether we were or not is another story)....

I honestly couldn't tell you if the brown-y mauve lipsticks were born before or after the trend started, but I can tell you that it didn't matter to us because we weren't wearing them.

But in honor of this trend that I am kind of sweet on, I thought I would see what I had on hand. I found quite a few colors that fit into the Kylie/Friends range.  Below, are some lip stick swatches.  These swatches are all drug store products and chances are you already have at least some these on hand.

All of these colors are beautiful, but my favorite two colors are Wet n Wild's Mega Last 914C for a chocolate brown and NYX  Extra Creamy lipstick in Milan for a mauve brown  OR you could always break out that eyeliner and rock it old school!

Bonus  Review:  The top picture is after I tried to remove the lip stain swatch with a make-up remover towelette and baby oil.  The bottom picture is after a good  scrubbing with soap and water. Let me tell you these stains are more awesome than I thought.   And notice the 4.99 New York Color 16 Hour Smooch Proof  (#3) is holding up against the Revlon and Cover Girl
